GARF is great for sharing info. Definately a site to browse over a cup of coffee. Some of the articles and such are newer developments and have not been around long enough yet. I bought some grunge and didn't get anything from it. I guess it's all a matter of what scoop you get haha. Cetainly in my top 10 favorites.

Maybe I haven't visited their site lately but I wouldn't say they have many "new" developments. The site has been essentially the same for the past several years. The coloring book is new though.

My brother and I have both used GARF for reef janitors (hermits and snails) and for grunge. I added grunge to my new 75 and it cycled almost instantly. No cyano, and diatoms for about 3 days. I did have cured live rock from my existing 29 that I added as I slowly changed over. As far as pods go, I am not sure if more came from my existing rock or from the grunge. One does have to like the "rubble" look for their substrate though.

I suspect that the live rock from the previous tank was more responsible for little or no cycle. The grunge would contain a culture of the bacteria required for denitrification, but they multiply at a specific rate following a mathmatical formula.
Garf has no special secret ingredients, they just have one method that they have refined over time, it's one way, not neccessarilly the best or only way

GARF - Shipped 7 dead coral skeletons :-(
I had read about GARF on their website and they seemed really great, after about 3 months of following their tank build setup things are going great so I ordered 5 corals (3 free) 2 sets. (10 paid and 6 free). Well apparently Leroy was out of town or something and they sent me 7 dead coral skeletons and one rock with literally nothing on it.
Leroy swears that it was a new intern but I have called them 5 times to rectify the situation (I paid about $450 for about $98 dollars of coral frags) and Leroy keeps putting me off and never does actually ship the reparation order which he said they would gladly do.
He seems like a reasonable individual, the problem is he does not do what he says and that left me burned by about $350 dollars. I would definately NOT order from them again, there is a Fish Store in Huntington Beach, CA ( I live in Prescott, AZ) that I would rather drive the 7 hours each way to get what I pay for.
