Harlequin Shrimp Pics
Here are a couple of pics of my harlequin shrimp. I did have two, but one disappeared after a couple of days in my tank...
Enjoy...

How do you keep em fed? Do you grow your own feeder starfish or can you get them in bulk and keep em froze? Is it true they only eat Blue Linka stars or do they eat any starfish?

They're not that specialized. We have harlequins here but no blue linckias (that I know of!)

Nice pics and good to see your smiling face Jodi
Yes Harlequins are specific feeders, starfish only, not just blue linkia, I think chocalte chip stars are common feeders for these fascinating shrimp. Not the best reef friendly inhabitant but would make a nice species setup in one of the minibow or Eclipse style tanks.
On a sorta related topic, I was watching animal planet last night and they had a spot on preying mantis, masters at camoflouge, there is a mantis called an Orchid mantis that likes in orchids and a few other flowers. The tie in here is that its evolved to hide in these flowers and consequently it is quite similar in appearence to the harliquin shrimp. Really neat

They eat alost every kind of starfish. I have 2 also and they are pretty cool to watch. They will start eating the starfish while still alive and trying to scape and then will carry the entire thing back under a rock to eat it over the next few days. I used to feed mine an entire fresh and live starfish every 3-4 weeks, but have changed my routine since. I know buy a starfish and cut it in 5 pieces. I feed one piece every other week and freeze the rest until needed.

I've got a couple of sand sifting stars in the freezer for back up, in case my LFS can't get fresh chocolate chips.
The chocolate chip is too big for my harlequin to flip over on its own and keep it that way. The star has been alive for almost 2 weeks, with the shrimp following it around the tank, nibbling on a leg when it can.

YES. They don't bother anything and only eat starfish. They love to hide, so you are likely to only see them when you add a starfish for them to feed.
