Hard White Dots

My tank has been up and running for 6 months now with no problems. In the last month however, it's developed these little round white dots (pinhead size) all over the back glass and even the plastic overflow. They are very hard, like chalk, and it takes some effort to scrape them off. They come back a week later. Any thoughts? They're too small to get a decent picture of, so I'm hoping someone can help just by the description.

i think they are some type of fan worm or something like that.
Harmless...they help filter the water.
That's why they are on the overflow...I get them too.

can you get a picture to be sure?

i vote for coraline. im constantly cleaning the glass because of those little white spots. whatever they are, they're calcarous, which means your calcium levels must be good.

Thanks everyone! From everyone's postings I can at least not be worried about them, other than the fact they're ugly.
