hard tube worms, not feather dusters? what are they

ok i have a new piece of rock in my aquarium. it has these rock hard tubes coming out of it, and a worm living inside. there are no feathers, but there is a worm inside, it doenst come out of the hard tube, but it does tuck back in when i get close to it. it looks like it has a "man hole cover" what are they. i would post a pick, but is just looks like a nail drivin into the rock. i dont think a pic would help at all

Could be a feather duster that has lost it's feathers. They can shed them when stressed to grow them back later...
