hammer ????


asks this one before but my hammer keep losing heads and dont know if this is its way of making more of it and one got on my brain and stated to stick to it i could not get it off in time it left a small hole in the brain the brain seem to be doing fine but dont know what to do here need some input plz

more info needed. .......are the heads "bailing" or just simply dying/melting???

can you post your water params too? that might cold clue us in as to what is causing it.

sounds like they are bailing if one got into his brain. poor water quality is going to be my first guess if that is the case.

LPS will bail from the skeletons most likely because of poor water conditions..other wise they just wither away..the skeleton also could be infected with a bacteria as well that could cause that..& about the hammer & the brain..coral war is natural..yes one will die..keep the hammers from attaching to the favia..in time it will heal

thanks all but my water is good cal 400 nitates at 0pp do 8 gal water change a week o moce the hammer up higher in the tank seem to be doing better now it not thining like it was thanks frank

This is basically what I would have typed on the subject, we need to see more about your water parameters for the tank and how long it has been set up, how you go about maintaining the husbandry of the system, and how you do water changes and your top off. (temps, salinity, brand salt, ro/DI? feedings, substrate, lighting and schedule for photoperiod, biotope, specimens in this system, yadda yadda yadda...)

ok tanks been up and runing for 4 yrs do water change ever week 8 gals coral life salt skittleskimmer mag 500 have clown and goby clean crew red and blue crabs sand siffter substrate is sand 2 in thick lighting coral life compacks with moons water parameters cal at 400pp nitrates 0 pp temp 78 phos 0 pp salinity o23 drip kal 1 gal ever night with ro/di water

water flow ? too high of flow will cause it.
