Haitian Anemone

Quote:
Don't put an anemone in a new tank!
Oops ... couldn't help it.

The LFS guy said it was a haitian anemone. I said, "Oh a condylactus?" He said, "No, it's not quite a cAndylactus. It prefers warmer water than a candylactus." I said, "OK, gimme it."

Now it's in my tank. Looks nice... white with pink tips. Is it a condylactus (aka candylactus) or was the LFS guy right in saying that it is not?

ruhspolostar, the tank is 3 months old. But i decided to put the condy in sooner rather than later because i know how they like to roam around to find a good spot. I'd rather have it roam around when the tank is empty than when the tank is full of corals. Already last night, he decided to camp right near my only corals and sting them (green polyps). I moved the polyp rock.

well if you have been doing what you are supposed to have been doing, and you probally have, as long as the h20 cinditions are fine & lights are good, you shouldn't have to many problems, I knew a guy who put a BTA in 3 weeks after setup, 2 yrs later, still fine..., and the roaming around part is a good idea, but it still might roam even when you get the corals

I'm hoping it will find a spot that it likes and stop roaming. I've read some posts of people who have condys that found a good spot and stayed there for years. I am hoping to have as much luck. Otherwise, I'll put it in the fuge. Do BTAs roam as much as condys?

usually, roaming around is a sign that they are unhappy... water/light conditions, if you tear them... or something like that.

most of the time yes, but I had a BTA that used to retract into into the rock cave everyday and po out in a different hole at random, his foot was in the same place, but bot his head, so don't saaume that an anenome won't move, once they find a good spot they more than likely will stay in that general area but not necessarily, so I do know what I am talking about, it may roam because it views your corals as a threat and want to attack them, dont assume it will stay put
