hair Algae

My tank was slowing being overtaken by hair algae. Before the problem get worse I am thinking of having a weekly water change to bring down the phospate content in my water. Is this the correct step to battle hair algae? and what is the volume of water or percentage of water change must I do

How big is the tank? Probably 25% would be good...maybe more if possible.

You also need to make sure you figure out what is causing it. How much do you feed? How often? What are your inhabitants? What is causing your phosphates to be high?

Do a 10% WC every week. Also how much water flow are you pushing, how old is your tank, how long and what kind of lighting are you running? Hair Algae can be from a number of problems.

10-20% weekly WC is a good start, so is scrapping it off the rock and vacuumingit as you do your WC too.

But really want to find your reason for it? Also to add to the above questions what type of water??
