be patient, they will go through periods of this, and although a water change will be good for your system, it will not necessarily stop the problem (and in some cases may be the cause). Octocorals that live in mats on the substrate like these GSP (probably Brarium spp. or some type of Pachyclavularia or [/i]Clavularia spp.[/i]) have many means of protecting themselves from competition (by neighbors), sedimentation, or outright predation by other creatures in the tank, and sometimes it takes a few days to return to normalcy for these corals. It is usually not a sign of failure, especially if nothing has been changes recently in the tank. Check your parameters for the water (nitrogen compds, salinity, calcuim and alkalinity, Mg, temp) for anything that is not WNL, observe for irritation by other corals (especially at night with sweeper tentacles or acrorhagi often appear in the presence of "not like" corals in competition for space) or by crabs or reef janitors, even potentially fishes. It can even be from current in the tank if it is blowing directy on the specimen in question... Otherwise, almost always some sort of temporary thing with the colony, nothing to worry about unless if goes on for a few weeks...
