gregt - let's see your skimmer

Hey Gregt, I believe I am running a similar sized MRC skimmer and would like to see your set up and any tips you might have about it. Thanks

Ok, i'm running a MRC Recirculating Beckett that is 44" tall. Dual becketts driven by a GRI 520. 2-1" drains are feed the skimmer in the basement.

I cleaned the skimmer this afternoon at 1pm and here is what i've got so far at 7:30 this evening. Curious which one your running, any mods you may have done to it, and your thoughts over all.

I have done a few minor things to mine. Need to snap some pics I guess. I'm not doing recirculation though. Is that a new fad that I've missed? Never seen that one before. How does the water get back to the tank?

Recirculating is just another option, he's had them out for awhile now. There is a gate valve, it's just on the side not seen in the pic.

And this is from this morning. Pics a little darker but the skimmate color is consistant with the others.

That's ok, as long as you didn't grab a doughnut instead of the camera.

Ok, I decided to be lazy and just pull out old photos instead of duplicating effort.

I'm gonna dump it all on ya so you'll be sorry you asked

Here's the installation diagrams so you can see how it fits into the system:

Here's the new skimmer next to the one I used on my 180 which I temporarily installed on my big tank until it arrived. It's about a full 5 gallon bucket bigger. It's an MR-6 with a few dimensional modifications that Andy was nice enough to indulge me on.
