GREEN BRITTLE STAR VS SNOWFLAKE!

When it is feeding time for the green brittle star and my snowflake it is a challenge to get them both fed!
As soon as I put the tongs in with a piece of scallop, shrimp or clam the green brittle star heads right for the opening underneath the large LR where the snowflake makes its home and the battle is on.
The snowflake comes out and is ready for feeding time and the green brittle star likes to put one of his extensions right across the hole so it can grab the food if given the opportunity. Both of these animals are very aggressive but exciting and they finally both get their share and then things settle down.
I tried luring the green brittle star away from the hole to the other side of the reef but it will have nothing to do with that move. I find this quite interesting!!
I feed the 2 banggai cardinals, pair of maroon clownfish and the sharpnose puffer first so that they have a full stomach and don't get in the middle of the battle. It is an amazing sight to see and enjoy every minute of it. Johnny

That is interesting Johnny Is the brittle star satisfied with grabbing a piece and then scuttles off or does he stick around for more?

If the brittle star gets a couple fair size pieces it retreats to its home and then the snowflake gets its share.
One time I fed the snowflake a good size chuck of shrimp and the green brittle star put one of it's extension right down the hole and pull the chuck right out of the snowflake's hole. No fear there!! Johnny

when i got me green brittle star i started feeding him shrimp along with the ananome and he would eat up to 2 hole shrimp and look all deformed. so the next time i went to the LFS(where purchased) i asked how much to feed. they told me not to feed him let him scavange the bottom. otherwise they will get to big. well the other day i traded a few frags ang got a few pink xenia(3). the next morning they were all gone. just like that. now the only other thing i have that is a scavanger is hermits. but i can't believe they could eat all them over night. needless to say the green brittle has moved into a new apartment in my refugium! all he can eat in there is macro algae and theres plenty! so he gets feed every night along with the rest.
