green algae


hi guys

my tank has been filtering for about 4 mths its has gone from beening brown at the bottom and around the tank to having green algae all around the tank. Is this good or bad

It sounds like a normal progression of events, depending on the amount of algae. By "filtering" I'm assuming that you are letting your tank mature a little without much in the way of livestock. Very good..patience really is a virture

How long have you had the green?

If you scrape it off the glass one day, is it all covered again within the next day or two?

Have you been doing water changes? Running a skimmer?

How much live rock and sand in the tank?

Do you have a clean up crew? If not, I'd say it's time for snails.
