skimmer is short for a protein skimmer, and essential part of filtration for reef tanks

powerheads are small water pumps that go inside the tank to produce flow

lfs is local fish store

light, there are a lot:

VHO very high output fluorescent

PC power compact fluorescent

MH metal halide

DE double ended (metal halide)

SE single ended (metal halide)
