Grape Caulerpa Gone to Seed?

I have a 27 gal hex that has a metal halide light been set up for about 4 months with a luxurant growth of grape caulerpa. Everything yesterday was fine. Today the water is cloudy and some of the caulerpa has turned whitish brown. Has it gone to seed or what? Fish do not seem to be stressed. Skimmer operating at normal levels.
