gramma

just got a royal gramma, acclimated him over about an hour and a half, put him in, he was hiding for a bit, then started to come out and check things out a little, then the lights kicked off. i pulled out the flash light and started looking for him and found him laying on a shelf behind my rockwork, is this common? ive read about clowns doing things like this, acting funny when the lights go out. once i hit him with the light, he popped up and hid under the rock he was laying on. think this is just because he is new and stressed??

I would guess it is still aclimating to the tank and will be out in a day or two. I wouldn't worry to much right now. If you know your tank parameters are good and acclimated him well you should have no worries

My black cap was shy for the first few weeks, but have seen more of him over the last month or so.

I think he was just going to sleep since the lights went out. Since he was just falling asleep when you hit him with the flashlight he woke right up and got scared. You can get a red lens for your flashlight so you can see without waking things up.... or was it blue lenses. anyone know for sure?

BTW can't wait for pics???

use a red lense, blue would be like using a spotlight.

i do not think that it is anything to worry about. it was just resting for the next day.

Yes, Very common for the Gramma's! They will lay down to sleep.

Don't panic. Wait till you see a tang sleeping that you paid good money for. Will give an old man a heart attack.

That's so true LD, We are all pic junkies! Don't discuss it without providing pics!

Glad to have gotten you over here. The other forum we met on is the best for FW but this site is tops for all things salty!
