I know EC's, but not FW's. In all my years, I have never had FW's. My LFS is closed on Monday, so I can't even treat them until morning.

You can't really tell Aussies from any other just by first appearance. You can when you stick them under light though. These corals were about 20" below a 175W 14K MH with just a flat reflector. The Aussie has adapted to this light with no problems. Within minutes of exposure to these lights the two new ones puffed up like all the other Indonesian Elegance do when they are exposed to light like this. I just hope I got them out of the light before any serious damage was done.

Okay, first question.
Yes I think they will make it. It won't be easy, and they will need alot of TLC. I really had no desire to nurse any more elegance through this.

The only time they will harm a healthy elegance is when they show signs of an active infection.

The first coral is doing great. I feed it every few days, and it's polyp keeps expanding.

I'm not going to ask for my money back. Sometimes it's best to just put things behind you and move on.

Taking them back may be hazardous to their health as well.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Thanks. Yes, they do fine with FW treatments. I've known of several people that had to do this with EC's. The treatment always worked and the EC was fine. I just hope none of them came off in my tank. I really don't want to treat the whole tank. I have both EC's in a bucket for the night.

If they are from Australia, it's a good price. If they're from Indonesia, it's WAY more than they are worth.

I forgot what lighting you have, but you're probably right. If the lights are low, they would need to be placed high in the tank and the flow near the top is usually to strong for them.

Ok I'll ask them where they come from .Just so I know too. I have PC's .
If they were at the top in my tank they would need anchor lines to hold um .

I am sorry to hear you are going to be starting down the trail of nursing more corals back to health. I am sure you can do it again, but it sure does seem to take a lot out of you.

I was at a meeting this past Saturday and they had a strange looking coral that they said was some type of a torch. It was a very dark green under the T5 lights and did not look like any torch I had seen before. I am now thinking it may have been an elegance, but at the same time am not too sure how healthy it may have been either.

Are you talking about the dude that sold them to me or the EC's? Just kidding.

I very seriously doubt these corals would survive if I took them back. The dudes tank was infested with hair algae, and obviously flat worms. He's getting out of the hobby, so I don't believe he would put the effort into caring for these corals that's needed.

That's kinda what I figured. These corals really don't do well in the average hurricane force flow of the modern reef aquarium.

Thanks. It's just frustrating when I've been telling everyone that will listen not to purchase Indo Elegance corals, and here I am doing it myself.
My purpose with these corals is to have them spawn and raise the larvae. Even if I'm successful at bringing these corals through this rough time, it will be years before they are in any condition to spawn.

Don't feel bad about getting them confused. There is a very popular article from a very popular author where he shows a photo, claiming that it's an Elegance, when it is in fact a torch. He probably did it on purpose though.

Well, I called all 4 LFS's and none of them carry flat worm exit. I did some reading on here and found a post by Tom (thanks Tom) about fresh water dips killing flat worms. I dipped both elegance and put them back in the tank. I think it worked. There were quite a few flat worms on the bottom of the container. The Elegance are really really not happy. Elegance corals have a self defence response that they only use in very extreme situations. They discharge mesenterial filaments (digestive structures) through their skin. After returning them to the tank I notices these filaments, so I took them out and swooshed them around in a bucket of salt water. I think the toxins from the flat worms ticked them off.

Here's a couple of pic's showing the curly white mesenterial filaments.
