Got any predators?

does anything eat digitate hydroids?
no problems yet, but we have a couple.

and is it still a spionid worm if it only has 1 palp?
otherwise it looks like the pic at the HH FAQ

(needed 20 to post this)

I was looking at
http://www.xtalworld.com/Aquarium/hitchfaq.htm

If there's a good list somewhere of who eats what, maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

I had a sizeable population of the small feather-duster-looking hydroids (had 'em for years, they even survived a tank crash and rock cooking) as well as several of the digis. I added a peppermint shrimp for aiptasia and an emerald crab for valonia.

After several months I can't seem to find a hydroid.

Coincidence maybe , but I'm keeping a close eye on anything with small polyps.

Thumbs up

cool
might have a good deal on a peppermint, but the guy has to catch him first... think this one might be full grown (2 in., right?). forget how long they can live.
& i'll have to remember the emerald crab in case we see one.

thanks!

Should you decide to try either of these (personally, I think it was the shrimp) keep an eye on all your "good" stuff. I've heard rumors of peps eating SPS polyps.

Will do.
This is my 1st reef tank so we won't be getting anything too good. Everything is new and different to me; even brown button polyps, so we'll probably stick to 'simple' things that can survive a newbie.

...Though I know there will be temptation. Our local fish guy has some pretty crazy stuff...
