Good Research= Good results

So i have had a great example in my nano tank at work that i have to share. in this tank i have a baby sargassum and a sun coral. both totally unrelated but i have finally had great results with the sargassum. I did a ton of research on this guy so that when i got him i would be able to do a good job at providing a good habitat. In nature these little guys spend their lives floating on beds of sargasso (seaweed) and eating the little fish and shrimp that live in them too. For the first 5 days he stayed at the top and wedged himself in by the filter and heater, but today he finally took up residence in a floating bed of Calupera and chaeto that i provided for him (these normally don't float so i had to engineer them to do so). It is so nice to see a fish respond to my attempt at mimicking the natural surroundings. And by doing so you can see his coloration has improved and he is happier.

HAHAHAHA..you TELL 'em Steve!!!

agreed though. ANd one thing I've definitely seen during my research/lessons learned/etc is...99 out of a 100 times, species specific tanks are MUCH more successful (measured in how well the critters thrive) that the hodge-podge tanks we are all guilty of. (myself included).

Point being...setting up your tank to truly mimic a specific biotope and not compromising on certain critters preferred habitat is always the best way to go. Congrats!

Great work on the research and providing its habitat. That is a good example to all of those starting a tank to plan far in advance. Can't wait to see the pics.
