Good *onday Morning, Eric and all of TRT!
35 degrees here on Rocky Top with mid-60's expected for highs all week! Maybe some rain later, but sure is nice not to scrape ice from the windshield!
Your're right, Eric, weekends just aren't long enough!
Yesterday afternoon, I went to The Museum of Appalachia, just North of Knoxville, which has the largest collections of old buildings, equipment, and historical items from the region, some dating back to the 1700's.
It is a special place for me, as my ancestors' cabin is there. My great-great-great-grandfather, Wes Arnwine built this small (approx. 16'x18') cabin around 1800 and raised a large family. The last occupants were my dad's great aunts, Julie and Polly Ann Arnwine, old maid sisters, who died in the mid-1930's. My dad had many good memories of staying with his aunts as a boy, sleeping on a cornshuck mattress in the tiny loft. He said they were sweet, gentle ladies. The cabin was moved from it's original location to the Museum many years ago and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Well, time to get back to the 21st Century and get ready for work!
Have a wonderful day!

Good Mawnin' Eric, Dick, Tim and all of TRT!!!
Today is my first day back to work after a week in sick bay. You know you've been a sick puppy when you're looking forward to work
What an interesting bit of your background and history of those parts of Appalachia, Dick. Another great photo for the wake-up call.
Tim- I'm glad you all are having a pile of warmer weather right now. You all really do need a thaw out, even if rain comes along with it.
Eric, I'm all for longer weekends too
Lots of love and hugs and peace all around.

Good morning! It may be M*nday, but it does look like it'll be a nice day. Stayed up a smidge later than usual to finish the Academy Awards...
Happy March!

Morning everyone. I enjoyed your story Dick. That is really cool to be able to go back to a place like that. My grandparents came from Russia so I don't think I will get back and find their family home.
Enjoy all,
Homer

Bother, *onday again. I'd really like to outlaw this day, but then I suppose I'd just take my frustrations out on *uesday!
Thanks for sharing that bit of your family history, Dick.
I hope you all have a good week. Time to pull up my boot straps and get this day over with!

Dick,
Thanks so much for sharing the family history and information Dick.
It's pretty neat that your ancestor's home is a Registered Historical Place.
I was looking at the Museum website, and saw something about a traditional "Anvil Shoot."
Ever see one of those?

Yep; they are loud and you don't want to be where the anvil comes down!!
I appreciate everyone's remarks about the old homeplace. I'm sure everyone here has some very similar family background at some point in time. We are really blessed with the standard of living we enjoy, thanks to those who went before and invented the things we play with now!!
