Good news and BAD news
Ok, I'll start with the good news..... I FINALLY caught my yellow tail damsel without distroying the tank!!!! And I got a beautiful new Copper Banded Butterfly.
Now the bad news.... In the last week, my firefish, and both my camelback shrimp have come up missing. I've searched with a flashlight at night, I've searched during the day. No trace of any of them. No bodies, no anything. I havent heard any clicking from the tank or anything, nor have i got a glimps of any unwanted predators. The only thing I've noticed is that I never lost anything until we added a purple reef lobster. He's only about 2.5" long, and never leaves his hiding spot. I've never even seen it out at night. I feed him bits of mussel quite often. I do this by putting it on a long skuer (sp?) and feeding him directly in his cave.
Heres whats in the tank. If anyone sees anyting incompatible, let me know.
1. Pepermint shrimp
2. Ocellaris Clowns
1. Fire shrimp
1. Flame Tail Blenny
1. Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
1. 3 stripe Damsel (not 4 long)
1. Sexy shrimp
1. Yellow Watchman Goby
6. hermits
6. small snails
1. Copperband Butterfly
1. emerald crab
2. brittle stars
1. Urchin
1. Rock\flower anemone
1. Porcelain crab
1. purple Reef Lobster
1 Feather Duster
Im done adding. I just need to get the 3 stripe out to join the yellow tail back at the LFS.
Oh, and I havent seen the porcelain crab for about a week
Thanks for looking, and if you have any Ideas as to what happend to the firefish and the camelbacks, I'd love to hear them.

Stang5-
Congrats on the good news, but I'm sorry about your losses Though camel backs are not reef safe, but you hate to just not know. Besides, someone else in your tank could have another midnight snack
I mysteriously lost my firefish and the camel back that I had. (Confounded store called it a pepp, but I knew differently when I got it home....but he didn't last long)
Eventually, I found this guy in my tank, and I think he was the problem.
Hopefully someone else will have a better answer for you!

I was thinking the same Doug- I thought they weren't reef safe, but wasn't 100% sure

its not the corals that necessarily make lobsters not reef safe, its the fish and other meaty bits that they go after...They are pretty but I wouldn't trust them with any fish or shrimp myself.

I suspect the brittle stars, I hope they are not the green ones. I lost so many snails, crabs and fish to one of them.

They arent the green ones. These guys hardly move, even at night. They just sit and wait for me to feed them by hand. I've never seen them even show an interest in anything. But i guess anythings possible. Everyone was still accounted for this morning though, so whatever it is, must not have been hungry last night.

oh, and as far as the camebacks not being reef safe, its ok. The tank is FOWLR right now. I keep all the corals and stuff in the nano. Only a few snails in it.
