Good and bad news (Banggai babies)

OK, lets start with the bad. I woke up this morning...sick. I caught the flu. But anyway, I went down to check on my banggai babies but they looked really bad, compared with the night before, it was terrible. The heater had malfunctioned and the temp was very very hot. I quickly caught the survivors and am right now acclimating them for their new tank: my refugium. I am just praying that they make it.

The good: I can see more babies in the male banggai's mouth. I expect to have more babies tonight. I am hoping that they are still small enough that their older siblings will leave them alone, but I have my doubts. Wish me luck.

Drew

P.S.- Anybody have to try and net a fish at night when you have the flu? If so, I could use some pointers.

To remove fish:
(I removed 5 in 20 minutes this way)

use a large glass cup like a mason jar.
Net
Formula 1 or Formula 2 or some food that 'stays' put.

DO NOT FEED THE TANK FOR A DAY OR SO

Place the glass in the tank and fill with water. Drop in a couple of small chunks of formula 1, or 2. Place in the tank and stand around and watch. When the offending fish (even if its in there with another fish) go into the glass, quickly slide the net over the glass. There you go. Just drop the fish you WANT in the tank back in. Works great!

If you have partiuclar spooky fish you may need to feed a little in the glass and walk away, then come back and do it again.

I got out 7 fish this way so far with excellent success.
