Global Warming

Just a "DON'T PANIC" note when disaster seems imminent. I use a fan in my sump to keep the tank 79-80 degrees. Cheapo Walmart model for $10. Figured I'd give it a try. Lasted over a year. Two things happened at once though. First, fan started suffering from the atmosphere in the sump and slowly started losing speed. Noticed temp. creep up over a week to 81-82 degrees. Then air handler in A/C went out, so no air conditioning either. Thank goodness it's Fall! Still, tank got up to 87 when I got home from work. Cut off metal halides and pulled sump fan. Got a new one (still $10!) and put it in. Temp. dropped to 83 overnight. Next day, replaced fan in air handler (no salt creep there, just tired too I guess!) Air con came on and temp dropped to 77 overnight. Oops. Anyway, after balancing air con and fan, back at 79 steady. No body seemed to suffer any at all. Freaked me out though. I still don't want to do a chiller. Sure glad I got an open top tank though!
