has anyone ever bought a tank from them? Are they good? I've been looking at the price for the tank I want and it's way better than what I can get new around here.

My tank came from them, 36x36x25 with starfire front. I was very happy with the way it turned out. One of the biggest complaints is sloppy silicone joints. They aren't always nice clean straight lines. Mine weren't too bad but it is an in wall tank as well so I was willing to take the chance.

I did post a few pics of the tank in my build thread.

I have heard good and bad things. Some people have solid tanks, others have had leaks. The fact they only give a 90 day warranty worries me. I was thinking about going with them for my next tank, but decided to pay a little more for something I'm more confident won't leak. I may go with them for my sump tho (figure its only half filled, so there is much less pressure making a leak highly unlikely).

what other manufacturers should I look into? Googling custom aquarium isn't a whole lot of help.

They make cheap affordable aquariums that carry pretty much no warranty. Its one of those things that if you do have problems with the tank its gonna leave more then a bad taste in your mouth.

If you are someone that can build things then you might wanna try just building your own acrylic aquarium.

My tank is a custom GC tank with low iron front pane. I love it. There are horror stories about dealing with them, but I wound up with a heck of a deal and got to trade my 370 to a LFS for a GC tank and cash in my pocket... So I treated them very nice on the phone and actually struck up some good conversations with them. They called twice to confirm a few specs on the tank and it came in with out issue. In fact my tank is built like a tank and I was very happy. There were a few silicone spots that needed cleaning up, but that was not a big deal to me.

And the LFS I bartered with has 130 GC tanks in the store, including a 450 and a 370... Not a single problem with any of them. As with everything in this hobby, beware, be nice and be firm

Some other manufacturers:

Aquariums for You
A.G.E.
Deep Sea Aquatics
Miracles Aquariums

For comparison, I priced a 60x36x24 Starphire RR from Aquariums for You and it came in at about 2000 with shipping. From GC it was about 1700 with shipping (shipping added like 650). The extra money seems with worth it for me.

GC has always been good to the folks in the local reef club around here. I agree though that the silicone lines arent always straight. But, they may have improved over the years

I would recommend them
