Getting Snowflake Eel to Eat

Does anyone have any suggestions on getting a Snowflake eel to eat? Mine has been on a hunger strike for the last few weeks following a near crash. I've tried a variety of foods, shrimp, squid, octopus, clam. Tried feeding in morning, afternoon, with the lights on, off. He has only left the cave once. This is a drastic change in behavior as he used to eat several times a week and always be out wandering the tank. Any suggestions are appreciated. I was going to try ghost shrimp but both the fishstores were out.

You will probably have to use some sort of live food to get him eating again.

If he already eats prepared foods.....and considering he is not eating after a stressful even it would try to find some live mollies to stimulate him to eat. If you cant find mollies try guppies. Worst case scenario you can give him some goldfish....just want to see him swallow something

Don't worry too much over a stoppage in it eating, eels can go for a while without food without any problems.
I had a snowflake (lost it last year, figure i had it 15+yrs in my 180) that had a run in with the larger mexican eel i had in with it, they got along fine for a long time together (the 15 yrs again) but 3-4 yrs ago it looks like the Mex and snowflake got into a lil battle, prob w/ the snowflake having food in it's mouth and the other one wanted it. I found the snowflake one morning , missing it's one eye,and a decent sized chunk of meat missing behind it's gill opening "hole/flap". My wife was worried when it did not eat , and went into weeks of not feeding. I told her not to worry , it'll be fine (i hoped, to myself) In time , the snowflake started to take a interest in food, tho it was not the same way it used to be around food in the past.Kinda acted like it was afraid to get near food, w/ the other eel nearby (and it doing the normal eel "swimming frenzy" when they smell food) I chalked it up to it somehow learning that the last time it went for some food, it got it's behind kicked by the other one, and maybe it remembered it,and thought not to go after the food. They did not hang together like they did for 10+ years earlier, and spent the next 5 or so,with the snowflake acting a lil timid when the Mex eel got to getting active with food in the tank. But if you did not know how it was b4 with those two, you would not realize anything wrong/unusual if you saw them those last 5 yrs.

If the tank is back to being ok, as far as when the crash occured, i would just wait out the snowflake, i feel it will indeed return to eating in the future. Don't sweat it, you have a good deal of time b4 i feel the eel will be in danger from not eating.
Good luck , and keep us posted on how things go
