Getting Close

Happy Saturday Gang!

Well, we are getting so close I can taste the saltwater - sorry Jay just had to
I have finished the ceramic tile for under the stand, the wall is painted, access holes in the wall are cut and trimmed, our electrical panel has been upgraded and 2 20amp dedicated lines run to the tank and...oh yea, the new bathroom is ready for drywall...for those of you without significant others, thats called a compromise, I get my 180, she getts her new bathroom.

I picked up the light Thursday, it's an AB aquaspacelight 3x250 10K MH, 4x24 03's. So here is my question for this vast body of knowledge called TRT.

The light is going over an open 180. My focus will be sps's but will have softies also. I was thinking about setting the light 10" above the tank, does that sound about right?

If I can figure out how, I will try to post some pic's of my progress.

Ron

I am getting a new lighting system in about a week. I plan on building a frame work and attach it to my stand and hang my new custom made hood with a chain. Since I already have corals/fish/inverts, etc I will keep the light high over my open tank(about 15") and slowly lower the lights as my critters adjust.

You want to get the lights as close to the surface of the water without heat being an issue. I would say 10" is a good starting point and lower and check your water temp to see how it is going.
Make sure you have enough fans in the hood as well. I had an extra fan put in on my 4' hood which will house 2-250ww 10,000k and 2-96 PC's actinic 03.

Ron, I think your wife has been talking to Mojoreef's wife! She got a new laundry room out of the deal when Mojo installed his new tank

Good luck with the project; would love to see pics!

Congrats and post some pics !!!!
8 TO 10 inches IS good but if your tank is deep keep the sps high up in the tank .
I run 3 - 400' s on my 120 and have sps's on the bottom with the lights at about 8 inches above the water .

Good luck with the new toy !!!!
