Getting back into the hobby

Hi,

I am getting back into the hobby and of course I have a thousand questions. But, I need to educate myself so I am looking for book recommendations for the beginner.

Thanks Grimlie

First off Welcome to TRT! Before you buy anything do lots of research. I made the mistake of not doing my research and spent lots of money on crap stuff. What size tank are you planning to get and what do you plan to keep in your tank. Also a good RO/DI unit is a must I got a spectrapure unit and love it. I dont know of any good books to get but im sure someone here will post some replys with good books.

And rember the more patients you have the better your tank will look.

I hear a lot about this book even though I don't have it myself:

http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...product=BKCMAS

I have a book written by these guys : Svein A. Fossa and Alf J.Nilsen. They have a whole series of books too and I highly recommend their books.

Good thing you are asking for advice about books because I heard that a lot of marine books are written by photograhers and they don't know much about the topic itself even though than can take wonderful pictures and make it look that way.

Oh and where are my manners??

WECOME TO TRT!!

90 gal is a good size to start with. Add a sump to that and you have a good amount of water!

how long have you been out of the hobby?

Think it's truly WONDEFUL that you're getting back into it. SOOO much has change in recent years...so might need to relearn everything you knew, if you've been gone for a while.

You made the smartest step you could have.. ANd that's finding The Reef Tank!! hahaha

this site is wonderful, and everyone here has tanks full of critters that thank them everyday by being healthier and more beautiful.

If you interested in reef's, you HAVE to get this book. It's the bible for reefer's.

Get some books, do some reading, and ask lots and lots of questions here!

Very glad to have you with us!!!
