IIRC, (always a gamble) my husb
filled the 'intake section' of the sump,
got siphon going till enough flowed into the return section, covering the pump,
then turned on the return pump...
...but don't take my word for it; i was watching, but not paying attention sorry.

should've just done this for ya:

better late than never, as they say.

Ya, add enough water to the sump to cover the pump and a little extra to account for the plumbing...fire up the pump and the water level should rise enough in the display to start overflowing and going back to the sump...give it a few minutes to equalize...then fill the sump to the desired level...just remember to leave enough extra room in the sump so when the pump is off the extra water that siphons back won't overflow the sump.

HTH!

so is the tank bottom drilled or is it a siphon style overflow?

what type of silencing are you using?

bottom is drilled in left corner..silencing is a good question..it is just an open inch and a quarter hole for the water to drain down..and i know it will be loud..planned on addressing this later..but i guess i should get it resolved now lol..any suggestions?-drew

Durso standpipes are pretty simple and do a good job with noise.
