gate valve vs ball valve

which is typically quieter when partially closed??? have a ball valve now and it makes noise when partially closed

Are you sure its the valve and not the pump making a different noise when restricted??

Ive never noticed any difference noisewise. A gate valve is just easier to fine tune and move over time.

I can't remember ever hearing a ball valve make noise.

its not loud, u can just hear the water rushing through it, just loud enough to notice. was thinking maybe with a gatevalve it wouldnt be so loud. just got back from 2 hardware stores and realised that a 1" sch 40 gate valve isnt very common... gonna try another place tomorrow. did however pick up the pvc needed to make my mj spraybar, just put it togeather, works good!!
