galaxia ?

Okay so the mystery coral I have had my eye on for a couple of months is a galaxia. How are these corals? It is the size of a softball and I can get it for $20 so is it worth it? I know it's healthy because like I said it's been there about 2 months now but know very little about them so wanted to check with you guys about what you think of them. I know it will need plenty of room so it doesn't sting anyone and that wont be a problem.

I've had one for quite some time he is really cool but has really really really long sweepers at times I had to take him out of the 24g and put it in the 95

Give it space and it is a relatively easy coral, dont have to fed it directly although it will eat blender mush or mysis etc..........

Give it lots of space like already said, even though it may look like its sweepers are out a few inches it will throw random ones out a foot at times............

2 tricks to dealing with this without losing lots of acreage are to put him on the corner or side fo the tank and put a rock wall next to him, another is to drill a hole in the botom of his skeleton (there is usually almost one there anyway) about an inch deep, and put a acrylic rod in him and then either stick the rod in the sand or drill another hole in a rock and angle him out away from stuff......i personally like this method as it looks like he is just hovering out there.......

if it is softball sized and all or mostly covered in healthy polyps $20 is less than half of what you will pay for a coral like that typically.

Yes totally covered by the polyps so you cant even see the skeleton. I really like it so I think I may go get it. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't one of those corals that even the reefer king couldn't keep alive!

It's at a lfs. It looks to be dark brown with bright green tips but wont know for sure till I get it under my lights. His lighting isn't that great. Example my rics I got looked almost white but once they acclimated and got them in they were bright green and pink so the galaxy's color will be a surprise I'm sure.
