FW dips


what exactly does FW dip mean.. do you do it to all species.. as in seahorses to. is the purpose to remove bad stuff??? are there any other purposes.. do you have to do it to all species before putting in yout tank?

I believe it is for getting rid of ick. and you just do it to the fish that have it. but not 100% sure

Fresh water dips is a source of ridding marine fish of parasites (parasites cannot live in fresh water and fresh water parasites cannot live in salt water. They all don't die they just fall off). You do not do this to sea horsies and you don't do it to all fish. FW dips IMO is one of the last sources of treating a really sick animal. To be honest with you, in my last outbreak I performed FW baths and although it helps it only stresses out the fish even more. So the best policy to healthy fish is keeping top quality water!

actually i just read on the seahorse.org site that you do dip seahorses... so i did read that
