fusion lighting

has anyone heard of this new fusion lighting thats being developed,its electrodeless so nothing can wear out,uses only argon and sulphur with comparable output to a halide, it gives the same output as the sun, with very little infrared so not to much heat. the only thing to replace is the magnatron(like in a microwave oven) which needs replacing every 30,000hrs
im not to sure what rating of kelvins they produce at the moment, but these things seem to be the future.
any of you heard of them?

I have never heard of them, but it sounds interesting. Any idea how much energy they consume? I wonder how much they would cost, and how much the magnatron would cost to replace. I might have to do a little research on this.

I remember about 2 years ago there was a lot of talk on the BB's about this and hope it could be piped fiber optically into the tank, etc. Then the hype dyed down and no more was heard. I vaguely remember some $ figures bandied about that made hi tech reefing seem cheap

thats the ones, they were invented in 1990, and the light units can be either set as normal or directed with optical cables.
ive contacted the company that makes them and requested their specs.
ill let you know what they come up with.
