Fuge or not to fuge?

I don't run one. I have never run one. I'm sick of reading about 'em! I guess my question is.... am I missing the boat by not having one?

I mean, my sump has some live rock in it, my overflow has a dursopipe in it, so I guess that's a "mini fuge" of some sort.... but as for an actual refugium, I'm not running one.

Is anyone else not running one, and are there any DOWNSIDES to having one set up?

I don't have one, but I will soon. My main reasons for wanting one are:

1. Reverse photoperiod to stabilize pH at night.
2. Place to put things I don;t want in the main tank, but dont wanna get rid of, like those huge hermit crabs i have.
3. Grow macro algae for nutrient export. Don't want that in my main tank anymore, even though i really did a while ago.
