Frozen food

I bought some frozen food that comes in small ice cube like trays. The fish seem really interested but if I defrost it fist the peices seem too small and If i put it in frozen the all fight over it. What is the best way to feed this stuff?

Hi, mdq,

All you are losing by defrosting is water....the food is the same quantity. I always thawed frozen foods and often added a drop or two of Selcon, a food supplement.

thaw it in some tank water first then dump it in work's pest.

you probably dont even need a whole cube

Yep, just thaw it a tank water first, just enough to break it up. What the fish do not get, your corals will.

Make sure to discard the thawing water, its loaded with phosphate.

Yup! Cut the cube in half or thirds, thaw what you need in a glass of tank water, then drain it into a brine shrimp net. Take the net and turn it inside-out in the water.

This method also helps familiarize your fish with the net. If you need to catch some smaller fish one day, use your feeder net, they'll swim right in it!
