Freshwater ???
I know that once youve moved on to the greatness that is the reeftank, having freshwater tanks just doesnt seem as fun. However, I was wondering if anyone still has freshwater tanks and if so what types of fish do you have ? I personally have a 75g hex w 4 gallon refuge (l have a huge pleco that devours my plants), a 100 gallon fresh with 2 black belt cichlids, and a 20 gallon cylindrical that I raise shiners and rosies for bait fishing.

I was thinking of making a freshwater and have a small large mouth bass and maybe a catfish and a crayfish in it....

I have a tank with a Red devil. I will always have some kind of cichlid because I like the personality of them.
You just can't get that in Reefs.

I have arowanas, just as cool (just different) as my salt. They'll even eat baby mice.

yes you can put mollys in both. there have been a number of threads about it. someone said at some point that mollys were originally a sw fish
i had 7 fw tanks before setting up the first sw in february. my oscars were over 8 years old, and roughly the size of a standard football. light orange oscars with grey markings.
i had mixed community tanks with a variety of "run of the mill" fish. but my prizes were the albino irridescant sharks. they are coming up on 8 years, or past years now. both are quite large.
all of my fw tanks have been passed on to my mom i nthe last several months so i could devote my time to learning reefs and build my current setup, without distractions from maintaining 7 other tanks too.

yes I have a 75 gal acidic with neons, red, black, and green, a 120 that I am going to setup with african cic's, a 30 with two 5 inch oscars, a 20 with various zebras, guppies, and swords. A ten with rosybarbs , a 10 with mollies, a 10 with babie swords, guppies and platties. two 2,5 gal one with zebra babies and the other with rosy babies. I also have a 75 gal salt reef, and a 20 gal salt with a niger trigger. I love the difference of careing for each one. Each one is unique and keeps me from being bored by just watching one kind of fish.

I think it depends on what state you are in. Our LFS has bass, walleye and other sport fish. I think what is illegal is to catch or net a fish in a lake or stream and put those in your tank. Don't ask me why. I have a six oscar and a ten inch pleco in a 30gal. I think I am going to have to get a bigger tank or trade in my fish because the pleco seems to be getting pretty cramped.

I love FW planted tanks. I kept a 135gal planted tank before but after a year it was just too much work to keep it looking nice. Pruning practically every day. Reefkeeping is a piece of cake compared to it
