Question

free floating shrooms(will they attach and grow)

i got two small red shrooms not attached to anything at work yesterday. Although I tried to attach them to something they floated away in my tank. I dont really have a clue where they went. I am wondering will they attach to something and grow?

Yes they will attach over time. Give them a day or so and they will find a spot they like in lower flow and then attach. Once they do that it is only a matter of time for them to have babies and you have a ton of shrooms in your tank

i figured there was no way for me to get them attached so i just let them go. I am sure they went into the rock work. will they still grow even in the rocks?

You be amazed what shrooms can do. I have some that went under my rock lifts and now they are growing in a way that stretches them out from the rock and onto the side so they can get light. So their base or stem is about 4" long then the head of the shroom is stretched out from the side of the rock.

I like to put free floating corals in a small cup filled with rubble and the coral in question will attach to a piece of the rubble. Then I can put that wherever I like

I do the same using netting over the cup so they dont float away.

Another way, if the coral is big enough.
poke a tooth pick thru near the base and hold to rock using a rubberband. it usually take only a few days/week to attach.

That is what I do as well. I set a cup with rubble un my sump and wait a few days. The flow through my sump is pretty slow so they don't blow around.

get a small tupperware container...riddle it with holes big enough that some water can get in but the shrooms cnat get out including the lid. fill it with rubble.

then you can put it anywhere in the tank you want with as much flow as you want, andthe shrooms will be healthier and attach faster than if you put them in stagnant bowl you are afraid fo them blowing out of

then once attached you glue the rubble wherever you want them
