You need to separate the head with the "skeleton". I use "nippers", kinda like a set off wire cutters. The skeleton is pretty "soft" and brittle, so it doesn't take too much force.

OK I know Duh , but please define or rather identify in the pictures what are you calling head and skeleton. I am pretty sure I get it but don't want to make a mistake, this guy has done REAL good in my tank and has grown beautifully

See if this helps...as I look more closely at the photo, it looks like you may need to take something like an exacto knife or even a razor blade and cut the flesh at the point where you want to frag so it doesn't tear when you break the skeleton. The dotted line is just an example, you can frag a single head or multiples heads together.
Anybody else wanna chime in???

If it were me I'd wait until each head had it's own stem (skeleton ) but I'm pretty cautious when it comes to fragging

I second letting the skeleton grow out a bit, but its hard to tell w/o seeing it in person.

dIf you reall y wnat to cut it instead of letting it grow.....I would do exactly as jnicho said but I would be using my dremel with a cutting wheel.......as that is my favorite fragging tool wherever it will fit....

ok Thanks for the help I got it now... when I bought this guy it was only three skeletons and 3 heads, as you can see it has grown quite a bit since then and I wasn't sure if it would be ok just to remove the skeleton from the original bas and re attach it to anothe base or just cut the grown sections apart...

yours looks much prettier than mine - just remember they can extend long sweeper tenticles so be sure to give them plenty of space.
Here is a pic of mine from this morning, It's not fully extended since the power head is out being cleaned at the moment

corner overflow question
does this look like the correct level for a RR corner overflow? I have matched the outflow with the pump so it stopped making so much noise because it would empty faster than it would fill, but with the little air pipe sticking out of the top of the outflow pipe it makes me wonder if the water should be higher.
