Frag lighting

So I added a 20g frag tank to my system (75g display with a 55g sump)
It’s a 20g long (30x12x12 tank) it has a 1” drain with about 150-200gph return
I built a light canopy with a 175w MH 14k
What I should do for a light cycle on the frag tank, I was thinking of 6 hours on and 6 hours off, on from 3pm to 9pm and then from 3pm to 3am to 9am?
My 75g tank is on for 12 hours from 9am to 9pm.

Should I try it?

Thanks
Terry

I agree, that sounds like a lot of light for that much water. If you already have it built, place the light higher off the water, about a foot or so. This will bring the intensity down a bit. Also, I would think 6-8 hrs a day would be fine for a frag tank of 20g. I dont think that 2 cycles of 6 hrs would benefit. Stick to 1 lighting cycle a day. If this system is inline with the rest of your system, light your frag tank opposite your main and it will help maintain ph and other levels better (just an added benefit). Good luck.
