fox face question

I'm a little irritated with myself... went to the LFS and picked up a Foxface Lo. decent enough looking fish... put him in my 120...He's the only guy in there. Got off work a little early on Friday and went to a different LFS that's further away... they had freakin tons of Foxface. some beautiful blue line rabbitfish. Their Lo's were same price, but looked 10x healthier. Mine looked fine till I saw theirs. But that's ok... I'm happy to help mine out, and help him to look as good as those others... I know he can.

But he's been VERY shy. hiding in the rocks since I got him on Thurs evening. Tonite, I came down, and he was out, and picking at the algea on the rocks. He also had a full yellow color to him... no dark spots on him at all. Good foxface! But I noticed that he was twitching... not like I've seen some other fish, where their whole bodies seem to have a tic. His dorsal fins and the little ones on his belly were all that seemed affected. They would twitch about once per second. He seemed to be ok with me being in the room and picking up the camera.. but as soon as I started filming him (from across the room, but zoomed in) he got camera shy and went back to hid in the rocks. Here's the little bit I did catch.. it's not great, and photobucket shrunk the filesize down quite considerably (as well as the quality) but you can kinda see in the first few seconds what I'm talking about with the fins on his back.

Should I be concerned? Is there anything I can do to make sure he's a happy camper?

That's the best answer I could have hoped for Geoff!

After I posted my first post, I sat here, and would take a look every few minutes... he's sticking his head out through the rocks... being very cautious, but mowing down some algea. He seems to be eating pretty good, so I'm overall pretty happy. give him a few more days and I have a pretty good idea he'll be coming out to see me more often.

I know they are herbivores... he seems so far partial to some algea growin in the tank, and I have a small bit of Nori in there for him too that he hasn't taken to yet... Is there anything I can put in there that might really make him happy and tell him I am his friend? The old standby brine shrimp probably won't work with him will it?

yeah my foxface twitched a lot when i first got him but it died down once he gets used to the tank....the shyness will go away...so much so that when you put your hand in the tank he will come and investigate with his spines...which is not very good if you dont have gloves on...anyway they are a great fish

i got a foxface last month..... this fish is easily scared and skiddish....

actually it really really funny because whenever I put my hand in the tank it will lay down on one side, lose all its color and stick out its venemous fins.... IT LOOKS LIKE ITS PLAYING DEAD (like a dogtrick).... 2 minutes after my hand is out its color is all back and swimming around happily.

I called him "Rover" because he does this "play dead trick" everytime my hand is in the tank...

"...come on Rover....rollover and play dead...."

I think your fish is beautiful! The one I had did the same thing for about a month then it slowed down.
