Food Recommendations for Yellow Tang

Could anyone recommend some good food for a Yellow Tang?

I have a three year old Yellow Tang that I feed a clip of green seaweed to every day for browsing and Spirulina enriched brine shrimp in the evening. My Tang has been a little white around the face for a long time so I don't think I'm getting his nutrition quite right.

I have a 55 gallon tank with about forty pounds of live rock, one Coral Beauty Angel, two Percula Clowns, one Cleaner Shrimp and two Peppermint Shrimp. pH = 8.2, ammonia = 0, nitrite = 0, nitrate = 60 mg/l. I've been doing more frequent water changes to bring the nitrate down.

Thanks,
AxelG

My tangs like frozen foods like Formula 2. Spiralina flake and Julian Sprungs sheet foods are a close second. Bob

Wardley makes a product called Spirulina Discs(100% vegetable conditioning food) and you drop in a couple of discs and my yellow tang just loved this stuff!!

I buy Nori (seaweed wrap for sushi) from a Chinese market. The tang attacks it.

Formula 2 and everyday seaweed does the trick.

I have a refugium/sump and I grow about 75% of what my Tang eats. Mine eats a ton of Red Algae, Dwarf Feather Caulerpa (sp?) and Grape Caulerpa (sp?) for the most part. Of course I do keep a little nori on a clip, feed a Spirulina based flake food and some Mysis Shrimp some of the time for varieties sake. He seems to be fat dumb and healthy so far. Color wise...if he was any brighter yellow he would probably glow in the dark!
Find someone nearby that can give you a little "vegtable matter" and see if he eats that and possibly improves. Thats the only suggestion I can come up with. Good luck!!!

My yellow tang loves grape caulerpa, flake food, and tears up fresh brocolli too. His coloration has stayed awsome. Just look.
