Fluid Bed Filters
Anyone use one?
I have never heard of anyone using one, and ive stumbled across one on special, so im going to get one and give it a go.....
They are described thus
"Uses quartz-sand as the bio-media which has a 1000 times greater surface area than the same volume of rock.
Its effect for cultivating nitrifying bacteria is 5 times greater than a trickle filter and 10 times (probably more) greater than a sponge surface.
A power head stirs the sand (which never has to be changed) continuously and this rolling action enhances the metabolism of the beneficial bacteria."

What I hear is that they work kind of like a DSB,the problem is if the current gets turned off even for a little bit,all of the stuff in there starts to rot,and when you turn the flow back on it all goes in your tank......
Again, this is hearsay on my part, but thats what I read.

dump the sand and use it as a phosban or rowa phos reactor. That's the new thing going around here.
