Fission Skimmer

Still having problems with hair algae and nitrates dispite using purigen and ro/di water in my 12g nano cube.Everything is alive in the tank minus that unsightly hair algae.Anyway,I've heard nothing but bad things about the skimmer and here's how fosters and smith pictured the setup I would imagine with the hood up and it would remain open taking away from the light.Do you guys still not recommend it?I'm trying to sell it off with the whole set up and everything in it.

Its a horrible skimmer. I tried it on a nano cube once, it didnt fit, takes up alot of space, you have to remove your hood and see it sticking out, and it floods the tank with billions of microbubbles.

get an aq1ua c remora. the fission is crap.

I just ordered an AquaC Remora...I sure hope these guys are right on this one. They also recommended a MRC skimmer.

if husbandry is done properly and consistantly you should not need a skimmer on a nano. are you siphoning up detritus during every water change. are you able to siphon out under all of your aquascaping? how often are you doing water changes. Purigen and other phosphate sponges will not help much if the phosphates are already there.
