First 'srooms

Well, I've taken the leap to my first corals in the tank. I still only have 2 NO 40 watt bulbs, but I can get the mushrooms up to about 4-6" from the surface, so I though I would give it a try.

The LFS had several small mushrooms that had come off of his rock and had settled in the gravel. He sells these for $5 a piece. I got one two weeks ago which seems to have now attached to my LR. I kept trying to just place it, and it would stay for a couple days until one of my other occupants would knock it off. It finally settled into a small hole where it could stay still long enough to attach.

Today I picked up two more. I have attached these to the LR with thread and bridal-veil netting.

My first question is this: How delicate are these corals? I think I may have pinched the first one a little too tight under the veil, but I really can't tell if it was damaged. I was able to loosen it up some.

Next: How long does it take for the mushrooms to attach to the rock? I'd like to remove the veil just once

Thanks
Daryl

It's hard to kill a shroom. If you did pinch the shroom with the veil then you may end up with two. It will probably only take 3-4 days to attach but I would give it a week or so to be on the safe side. Before long you'll have a bunch of shrooms. They multiply pretty quickly.

Congrats on your shrooms! What color are they?
I have a green striped one who has 2 babies on the same rock! I also bought a blue mushroom rock (look more purpleish to me) a few weeks ago, which I am happy to say have finally opened up Good luck on your new coral!
