first sign of life

I found my first sign of life in my tank today on a piece of my LR I got. I noticed what looks like a tiny tube or feather duster. It is as thin as a pin and about an 1/8 inch long. I had just showed it to my son and thought it was something like what I have on my back glass, but when he moved the couch bumped the tank and it shut like a backward umbrella. I almost jumped off the couch and my son though his dear mom had flipped her wig. I still don't know what either one of them are. Tomorrow I will try to get a picture, but I don't know if they will show up with the camera we have.

So much can be found on new live rock, That has always been one of the things I like the best about setting up a new tank with live rock.

dontcha just love feather dusters!!! My first live rock got more attention than my husband for a few days in the beginning!!! Of course he spent a good deal of time inspecting it too... good times, good times...

Verry cool!!! My LR comes in a week. I was going to cure it without lights. Is this a good idea, will things still grow? I can't believe that anything can live in a tank with uncured rock.

Yes those first times are quite fun. My eyes were and still are glued to the tank.

Debsis, what city in NE Wisco do you live, if you dont mind me asking.

I'll try today when I turn the lights on. I'm still running them for 8 hours so I don't turn them on till 3:00. What a bummer to have to wait that long. I have algae or I'd go up a little more in my lighting. I eventually want to run them from 10:00--10:00.
