I had heard that there is a new shop in Mauldin on the strip a few months ago, I've been by twice, but no one has been there either time and there were blasck bgs on the windows. I like Ocean's floor on Congaree out of all the shops I've been to in the Greenville-Spartanburg area, the rest don't merit a visit. Outside Craig at Ocean's Floor, the next closest shop in in Charlotte (Pineville actually), then Atlanta has 4 good shops (where I usually go), nothing to really see in Columbia, a new shop that I haven't visited in Asheville (don't bother with the rest), a decent shop although not much selection in Shelby, NC of all places , then on to Winston-Salem or Raleigh, NC. I keep hearing about a place North of Charlotte just off I-77, but don't have a name for it yet. Good crew available for local stuff through Wade at NCFRAG list ( I think they now have a web site, i usually just subscribe to the yahoo list server and respond occasionally.)

There are a few folks in G'vlle that frequent RC, and there is a sand swap that occurs once a year there as well.

The store in mauldin is aquarium oddities and he very into what he has going on. Seems like to me he has his store more as a hobby and just sells stuff if people come in. He does alot of tank maintance around here in greenville (hospitals and such). He has weird hours though only open wendsday thru saturday maybe sunday too im not sure but he opens at 5 in the afternoon if im not mistaken. I like going in to his store cause he has so many corals of all kinds its crazy. You should try to get back this way and check him out i bet youll like what you see. I like Craig too but dont go there too much although he helped me out when i first got my tank goin and i call him alot to ask questions. You dont like any other stores here in g'ville? Can you actually go to Atlanta and buy a fish or coral and drive back here and it wont die? mmy tank has only been goin for a year so i have no clue what you can and cant do. But i know one thing ever since i found yalls forum i read, read and read somemore everynight hehe talk at ya later,
Tim

Yes, but it is best to carry an insulated chest (igloo, etc) with you for your specimens, especially in the summer. I keep an ice chest in the trunk anytime I travel to Atlanta (or anywhere else, for that matter) just in case I hapoen to see something that may fit into one of the systems here. Most of the fishes and corals that you see in the LFS's get there after at least 24 hrs in a bag, and often go into systems of low salinity (good for most fish, bad for corals, snails, echinoderms, and clams) SOMEWHERE in the chain of custody, so the trip home from Atlanta to the G'vlle/Spartanburg area should not be too strenuous, so long as you take precautions for temp and leaking and do adequate bagging (specie dependent). Several (ten or twelve) years ago I brought home around 300 lbs of Live Rock from Joy in Babcock, In (Harbor Aquatics, halfway between Chicago and Notre Dame), you should have seen the car loaded with live rock boxes to the brim...
