First Inhabitants
Well with my cycle (short because of cultured solomon rock from a friends tank) done I waiting for another week and very good test results until I got some inhabitants. I also took your advise and ditched the 160gph maxi-jet 600 for a 400gph HYDOR KORALIA 1. And um wow what a difference. First things is if it did not say 400gph I wouldnt believe it. It has such a wide range of output you cant tell. But when I watch the water flow around the tank closely.....it very obvious. Anyway so first I got a single turbo for clean up. I didnt want to get anything else because of it being a 12g I dont want the clean up crew(single in the case) to run out of work. And I know its hard to see now but in the third pic you can see the yellow watchman goby. Seems to be doing fine with normal breathing and behavior. I asked the people at my LFS and he has been there for a while and is eating fine. They said they are feeding him frozen brine shrimp so I got the forumla one brine plus frozen cubes. They told me to stick one cube in the fridge and feed a few peices twice a day. Anyway any advise please feel free.

have you gone through your cyano bloom yet? that is the best indication of the end of a cycle...

I am not looking for a conflict but from your previous post you are not done oyur cycle nitrate hitting 0 is the end of your cycle adding life before it's done will lengthen it considerably.

well for the first question no they meant a half cube should last almost a whole week itself.
the second question is yes it hit 0
and the other yes my cyano bloom has gone almost 100% away in the last 5 days. In the last three alone the gowth has gone back atleast 70% of what it was. And what is left has been cut back in the last few hours by the turbo

Very cool. Were you gonna get a shrimp to go with your goby? I am thinking of getting a pistol goby pair for my pod.

pistol shrimps and certain gobies form whats called a symbiotic relationship, and its a very neat thing to see, the shrimp (that is nearly blind) digs a series of tunnels under the sand. and he becomes buddies with a watchman goby, the shrimp lets him live there in exchange for his protection, the goby will sit out of the hole where ever the shrimp is closest too, and keep guard, and the shrimp, while out of the whole, will keep one antenna on the goby, if the goby flinches, the shrimp knows there is danger, and both high tail it into their house.

it is only the pistols that do it with the watchman, and certain gobies will only pair with certain shrimp, but for the most part, alot of what you see in stores will pair up with each other. (i think)
tunnels under live rock is fine if 1. your rock is elevated on stands to help flow (which is a good idea) or 2. the rock is situated and pushed down into the sand so it basically sits on the tank itself, and the shrimp simply digs around it.
