Finally Got My First Fish :-)

After exactly 4 months and 29 days of my tank being up and running we've bought our first fish

A Royal Gramma Basslet, I am a happy man!! even though as soon as i aclimatised and released he shot into the rockwork and rarely comes out yet

I guess after the trauma he's had it's normal?

He's feeding well, as soon as i add a few ghost shrimp he's shooting outa the rockwork grabbing a bit then shooting back, the flash of purple and yellow is awesome, exactly what i wanted from my marine tank, fingers crossed he gets used to his new surroundings and shows himself a bit more often xxx

Bit of a boring post i know but i wanted to share my joy with you guys/gals

I've not long been home from a christmas vacation in the caribbean so i'll start a new thread with the pics i took while snorkling ( even though i had a hard time breathing under water let alone taking pics!!! lol )

I love my Royal Gramma Basslet. I have had mine for over a year and he still stays in the rockwork. Thats why if you get one you should have a lot of rock. Very Cool!

Congrats Matt, not a boring post at all, it is the little things that make the big picture whole for us. Each little step brings us closer to completion!

...so where are the pix of the new fish???

Well I hope someone else chimes in here, but making a new post would really be best. See the ammonia spike is really hard on the fish... I can tell you what I'm doing is I have a 38g tank and I'm going to be adding 30 lbs of live rock. The die off on the rock creates ammonia and starts the cycle. The tanks cycle will take 4-6 weeks. I'd really suggest you making another post tho... welcome to TRT!

somehow i do not remember that fish being in the final list of fish for your tank.

that is a fine fish. over time it will get more and more comfortable and hang out more. being the only fish in the tank will help.

tapping foot waiting for the blurry purple and yellow flash bolting behind the LR pic.
