Fiji Gold Users

Hey everybody,
Just wondering who out there is using Fiji Gold, and if so, HOW are you using it? Do you like it so far?

I've been using it for about two months and I'm pretty happy with it.

Typically, I add about 1 tablespoon of Fiji Gold to a gallon of freshwater. I shake it up real good and let it settle for a day or so. Then I pour off the water on the top and discard the precipitate.

Wondering if anyone adds it straight to their tank or has another method?

I can't help here. Never used it and have not really heard too much about it.

I willing to bet that pickling lime at 1/10th the price is just as good. That said, I'm sure fiji gold is just fine. It's basically calcium carbonate right?

I have been using Figi Gold for 3 weeks now. I just follow the directions for dosing and add it directly to my sump. It creates alot of sediment that way. I like the results so far, other than the build up in my sump. I I will have to try mixing it first. That sounds like a good Idea.

Fiji Gold is advertised just as a calcium supplement, but apparently has significant amounts of Iodine, Strontium, Mb, and other trace elements. The guy I buy all of my stuff from is now exclusively using this.

Are you testing for all these things?

I ask because...while low amounts might stunt growth a little...HIGH amounts can cause MUCH worse problems. (i.e. death)
