fiddler crab in salt tank?

Can I put my fiddler crab into my friend's salt tank while I'm taking care of it when he goes overseas? I've been keeping him in brackish water...

Yeah, you can. Fiddlers are harmless detrivores. They have a bad habit of being semi-terrestrial though. Mine lasted a long time, until my mangrove snapper ate them. If you could give them a liverock island to come out of the water, I think they would do very well for you.

I had zero problems with aggression and eating habits with mine, and found them to be quite shy.

i once had a pair of beautiful purple fiddlers in my old reef with no problems. they lasted for a long time till a pistol shrimp came in on some live rock. but i agree with icebear, will be a pain to get them out when the time comes.

how gradually do you suggest? My friend leaves in May and will be gone for a year and a few months. I really don't want two tanks to take care of for that long...and my crab would probably be better off in a larger atmosphere.

it would probably take you the few months to do it kind of gradually.

and you wouldnt be able to get him to go home and your friend might not enjoy you putting an "evil crab" in their tank.

I just dropped mine right in because they are semi terrestrial, they are used to walking in and out of pools with different salinity.
