Hi Everyone!!
I have a pair of
maroon clownfish and the large female(21/2")loves to mess around with "Burt" the
snowflake eel.
When it is feeding time around 4:30 P.M. and I approach the tank, the maroon as soon as she sees the snowflake eel out will go right over to the eel and place its body right on top of the eel's head and force the eel's head down and then likes to fan sand into the eel's hole underneath a large LR that it lives under.
I find this to be an odd behavior and I doubt this would happen in the wild. I find this to be fascinating to see these inter-actions between tank inhabitants that will not be a normal behavior in the wild.
The snowflake eel is about 7-8" long and my maroon may get a surprise of her life in the near future if the eel decides to get more aggressive. I keep the eel well fed with raw shrimp, scallop, and clam.
I find this amazing how our reef inhabitants will adapt and change their behavior patterns to survive in a closed environment. I was curious as to other hobbyist whom have noticed strange or not normal behavior of their inhabitants. Johnny
