Feeding Suggestions

Need some suggestions from you experts out there. I recently purchased a Bubble Tip Anemone and a Yellowstrip Maroon Clownfish from the LFS. After putting the anemone into the water, it quickly (as fast as an anemone can be) found a home attatched to the side of the glass in the bottom-corner of my tank next to a beautiful chunk of LR. The Clown fish, prior to buying it, had already taken to the anemone. (which seems to be part of the problem - its too attatched.) With the anemone so far down in the bottom of the tank and the clownfish only adventuring about 6 inches, if that, from the anemone, how can I intice it to come to the top and feed. I even purchased some frozen brine shrimp from the store as well. When I reached in the tank to try and feed the anemone, it was quickly brisked away by the current. Anyways, need some suggestions on feeding these lil' guys.
Tank water is near perfect, with only a slight trace of ammonia showing now, after adding the these to guys.

Try using a turkey baster and blow the food to them. That way the clown will get his share. Johnny

P.S. Believe me when the clown gets hungry enough it will move to the top to get food. The same thing that happens to shy fish but eventually they come out to feed.

I've been trying to figure out a similar thing. I bought a bubble anenome and I already had a maroon clown.. before the end of the second day they were inseperable. The clown will leave the anenome to eat but not long enough for the anenome to eat. And how do you know how much to feed the anenome. I bought silvesides and I've been cutting them up. But I don't know what's "enough". Does anyone know?

Just a tip: Turn off the powerheads when you feed, it will help you when you target feed. I do this every time and now all the fish know that when the water stops moving, it dinner time!

You'll need to feed your anemone more than just brine shrimp. Feed it small pieces of whole fish (with skin and bones, you can get frozen silversides at most LFS or you can shop up fish from the store and freeze your own), small whole shrimp, basically any uncooked "sea flesh" with all the parts attached. You can also try the "blender mush" that many people make at home, but I'd feed a varied diet.

Turn the pumps off and feed the clown some anemone food and the anemone some of the food, they'll both get some. The clown may eventually take to "feeding" the anemone.

Don't forget to turn the pumps back on! I set the timer on the stove to help me remember.

HTH,
