feed pump for carbon reactor

so I am making a DIY carbon reactor this weekend. I am making it fairly small since it is just for my 29 gallon. I am using 2 1/2" acrylic tube, and i haven't decided how tall to make it. andyhow, i am trying to figure out a good feed pump for it. I am leaning toward the maxijet 400, but for such a small reactor, is this too much pump?

I would do the MJ 1200. it is carbon not phosban so it should do fine.

why a 1200? that seems like overkill to me. I thought the idea was to push the water through slowly so the carbon can pick up the waste

it really depends on the design of your reactor. keep in mind that if the flow is too slow you will not get enough water through to make it worthwhile. the MJ 1200 is only like 250gph which is not that much, especially if it needs to push the water up.
